First read WOB, MOG, OS and E when they came out. Was working in libraries/bookshops when RS appeared. My first wife encouraged me to visit her as she lived near Mow Cop. Ended up living in Staffordshire/Manchester and visiting The Edge regularly. Even heard Garner give a talk. Just reread all the books during lockdown and about to commence workingwiththelostboyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02878406102717965663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6134316.post-52165779189510193562016-06-22T14:29:40.787+01:002016-06-22T14:29:40.787+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ralph Brewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17690542422376075347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6134316.post-73099063934943091642016-06-22T14:27:42.868+01:002016-06-22T14:27:42.868+01:00Hi. Certainly not a sequel in the way we usually understand... and crave, but a beautifully biograhical piece about the confusion and trauma of mental illness expressed through an exploration of the realistic impacts of having gone through a childhood with the experiences of WOB and MOG, Ralph Brewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17690542422376075347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6134316.post-29799141163882987562012-10-18T18:36:06.225+01:002012-10-18T18:36:06.225+01:00Yes, funny that, I devoured 'Weirdstone', ...Yes, funny that, I devoured 'Weirdstone', 'Gomrath' and 'Elidor'(aged about 11-13), struggled with 'The Owl Service' and gave up on 'Red Shift' a few pages in. I didn't approach 'Boneland' last week expecting to find elves and witches and found it a very powerful, satisfying, cathartic read. I feel ready to return to 'Red Shift' and catch Simonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6134316.post-66898342455389530462012-09-24T18:15:42.515+01:002012-09-24T18:15:42.515+01:00Elidor and Red Shift are both beautiful books, but...Elidor and Red Shift are both beautiful books, but the latter will make you fight for the beauty in it. Owl Service is very good too but perhaps overpraised. I've only started Boneland but it immediately feels like a companion piece to Red Shift.

Ian PotterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6134316.post-10245372621920729722012-09-19T23:59:38.556+01:002012-09-19T23:59:38.556+01:00Loved Brisingamen and Gomrath as a kid in the earl...Loved Brisingamen and Gomrath as a kid in the early 70s (second fantasy discovery, after a teacher introduced our class to Narnia). Must get Boneland. And reread the first two. (And get Lev Grossman's second Magicians book while I'm at it.)

Elidor is not a lot different from the other two in most respects; it felt to me like it was aimed at the same age range.
